Upgrading to STOVE 1.0

October 15th, 2006

Step by step, we will turn this place into a real home…

STOVE 0.6.12b (beta, unstable)

Up until yesterday 14 october 2006: STOVE 0.6.12b

STOVE1.0 (official release, stable)

Upgraded to STOVE 1.0

Apparently, the STOVE developers went for a major make-over of their mildly successful product. The result is not freeware anymore, but it sure rocks ! (you should have tasted that quiche lorraine …). Installation was so easy: we unzipped the big cardboard box, we configured the legs, plugged the power cord into a 240V socket, and the butane28.3 interface to the right port. We had an up-to-date butane28.3 driver, but unfortunately, the consumables were not shipped with the product, so we had to download a tank from the next supermarket.

How did I miss this announcement?

I’m at stove 0.8.1.2 in my trailer. And envious of your stove 1.0. Seriously envious. So what kind?

I long for an Aga. I’d love an Aga. I dream about Aga…..aga…aga….sigh.

However, I grew up with copper pots and there is no hell on earth that would make me torture myself with those again. They are a pain to clean and the cleanser is SO expensive compared to soap and water.

Stove 2.0 will probably not be an Aga. But my wood stove for heating (with windows and an integrated boiler for central heating) will be in the kitchen and will come in handy for soups and stews.

I love the copper pans (see the PanRack 0.103 post), but I will probably not bother with keeping shiny. Copper oxide is only mildly toxic (benign bowel discomfort at very high doses) compared to tefal coatings.
