Till death do us part — 1 — the first decade of forever

October 5th, 2006

I have been married ten years today.

On October 5, 1996, after five years of unofficial engagement, two 22-year-old ex-summer-camp sweethearts took a solemn oath to live together, like, forever.

It may seem a long time when one is 22, but I can tell you these past ten years were probably the best possible first decade of forever. We are so eagerly looking forward to the next one !

It took Litlove’s and Emily’s posts about husbands and marriage to convince me that I should write something to celebrate. This article is just an introduction — stay tuned for real work coming up.

Looking forward to the rest - what tempting subheadings!

    Interesting coincidences.

I celebrated my FIFTH anniversary last week, and was planning on writing something nice about it, but I lost my Internet connection on the days leading to it, and by the time it got back I was completely immersed on a project to digitize our wedding photos, so I ended up posting about that, and not about the special occasion. I decided to postpone those thoughts for the launch of a commemorative photo gallery for my wedding.

I thought five years were important. The next big number is 10. Wow! You’re there… Can’t wait for the series… and congrats.

I keep coming back in an almost obsessive manner, because I’m eagerly awaiting installment number 2.

Problem is, it’s not written yet. But OK, I guess this one will have to be among my very next works, then.

Congratulations. Yours sounds like such a happy marriage, one that will bring you much joy. My 15th wedding anniversary is October 12 — it’s lovely being in such a nice, stable place. Like Emily, I’m looking forward to hearing more! Best, BL
