My Tomato Steaks

September 4th, 2008

Because I am jealous of HealingMagicHands’s giant tomatoes, I wish to show off my version.

Steak de tomates

Those were eaten 20m from where they grew. The taste was fabulous (all the more so as I knew I had sown and planted them myself).

Wow, that looks excellent. Is that garlic in the corners? Looks wonderful. I feel like upping the ante and posting the picture I took of the fresh tomato/fresh mozzarella/fresh basil plate we had a few nights ago. We had babaganoush and slow roasted tomatoes with focaccio for dinner tonight. That was pretty good too, but there’s none less to take pictures of!

In the corner, it’s pickled cucumber. I love slow-roasted tomatoes. I have had to look up baba ganoush (caviar d’aubergines) and focaccio (fougasse), and now I know that’s what I’ll be eating soon. And I’ll keep my appetite in check for just a couple of minutes to take a picture.

They look fabulous! Remind me when I visit to visit during tomato season, so I can enjoy a repeat performance.

I will not have to remind you. The tomatoes in my garden are as obvious (and rejoicing) as the sun at noon.
