Married 12 years

October 5th, 2008

To the day.

As with whiskey, balsamic vinegar or Bordeaux, 12 years is probably how long it takes to reveal the full palette of flavours and the heart of the aroma (especially considering we were only 22 on October 5th, 1996).

Congratulations! I see now that we are the same age (I was married in 1998 at the age of 24).

Happy anniversary! And I’m happy to see in many corners of the blogging world I’m still one of the youngest. Just kidding! Glad to know year twelve is a nice one…I’m liking year eight thus far.

  4. Becky Says:

Congratulations! And I see now that I am older than I thought I was, since I was married in 2004 at the age of 33. Year 12 seems a long way off, but not impossible.

We just celebrated our 13th. I was an ancient old lady of 31 at the time, though. Now I’m an even ancienter old lady of 44.

Happy thirteen anniversary! Although my marriage turned out for the best, I would certainly not advise young people to get married at 22, unless they have known each other for some years (5 years in our case) and they do not intend to have children right away. The decade between 20 and 30 is as important as teenage years for turning into an full-grown adult, and I sometimes see how marriage is such a ‘grown-up’ thing that it takes a lot of faith and mental maturity to happen before 30.
