I am published (sort of)

Remember that great audio-book I wrote about recently? Well, it’s out in print. And I am in it. Or more exactly on it. Or more precisely on the back cover.
Maybe it’s a modest beginning as a writer, but remember that back covers are far more perused than inside pages - as soon as someone picks up the book from the shelf, there is a 50% chance that my praise (which started out as a comment on the author’s blog and was then promoted to an authoritative literary review) will be read.
And guess what was in the mail today? My very own signed copy. As I always say, compliments are a great investment, especially when they are meant.
I cannot wait to find out whether the characters are still great without Susan’s and Joe’s voices - I’ll probably be making those voices in my head anyway.
I know you all have ToBeRead piles that reach higher than Neptune’s orbit, but please consider adding this book near the top if you want to be reconciled with mankind (and tools).

Ah, a comment at last! It was probably not a good idea to advertise the end of mandarine that explicitly, as everybody seems to have taken me seriously. I am still very much around reading and commenting, it’s the writing part that’s intended to give way. Happy new year to you too.

My birthday’s coming up and my post-Christmas, global financial meltdown inspired 3 month book-buying embargo is nearly over, so I’m ordering some books. Thanks to your recommendation, one of them will be Clear Heartand I’m also choosing some novels by Wendell Berry as I’ve been bowled over by his Agrarian essay collection published under the title of The Art of the Commonplace”.
Your grasp of English is stunning and shames my own stumbling attempts at French. Why do I say this? It was the remark “reminds me of a blend of P.G Wodehouse and Mark Twain”, which made me think of how far away I am from expressing, in perfect French, what I think about Proust or Molière. Bravo, mon pote!.

The hard truth about me and English is that I read (and used to write, until my blogging on arpentnourricier.org replaced wisemandarine recently) much more English than French. This has got to change. Pierre Loti, Georges Bernanos, Emile Zola: those are next on my list.
