I like TeXlipse, because it compiles on-the-fly, letting you know about errors as you type. I updated the link to wisemandarine.com. And what is this I read about LyX? Were you teaching Sarah how to use LaTeX with LyX as a starting point? I tried LyX in my early LaTeX days and liked it for a time. Now, it is back to good old "vi" and dvips and ps2pdf.
